Cheese and herb bread
A simple recipe and ideal if you have yesterday's French bread to use up.
What you need
- 75 g butter
- 1 tsp dried mixed herbs
- 1 clove garlic, peeled and crushed
- 100 g double gloucester cheese
- 1 stick french bread
Method
Preheat oven to 200°C.
Beat butter, herbs and garlic until smooth. Grate the cheese and add to the garlic butter. Mix well.
Make cuts in the French loaf at 2 1/2 cm intervals, leaving the slices joined at the base. Spread each slice with cheese butter. Wrap the bread in foil and bake for 15 min until the cheese is melted and the bread is hot . Alternatively, wrap in foil and heat on a barbecue.
