Atholl Brose

This creamy drink is named after the Duke of Atholl who lived in the 15th century. It is traditionally served at Hogmanay.

What you need

60 ml fine oatmeal
6 tsp clear honey
1 1/8 l Scottish whisky

Method

  1. Blend the oatmeal with enough cold water to make a thick paste. Very thoroughly mix in the honey.

  2. Strain into a large bottle. Fill up with whisky. Shake well.

  3. Serve neat, or with hot or cold water or soda water.
