Failsafe Irish coffee
Sit back and enjoy! Use whiskey or your favourite tipple.
What you need
- 3-6 tsp Irish whiskey
- 175 ml hot strong black coffee
- 2 tsp soft brown sugar, to taste
- 60 ml double cream, lightly whipped
- To serve
- 1 tsp sifted cocoa powder
Method
Gently warm a stemmed whiskey glass. Pour in the whiskey and fill 3/4 full with the coffee.
Stir in the sugar until dissolved. Pour the lightly whipped cream slowly and carefully over the back of a spoon into the glass, until it reaches the brim.
Do not stir after the cream has been added. Sprinkle with the cocoa and serve immediately.
Serving suggestion
Replace the whiskey with brandy, vodka or your favourite liqueur.
