Failsafe Irish coffee

Sit back and enjoy! Use whiskey or your favourite tipple.

What you need

3-6 tsp Irish whiskey
175 ml hot strong black coffee
2 tsp soft brown sugar, to taste
60 ml double cream, lightly whipped
To serve
1 tsp sifted cocoa powder

Method

  1. Gently warm a stemmed whiskey glass. Pour in the whiskey and fill 3/4 full with the coffee.

  2. Stir in the sugar until dissolved. Pour the lightly whipped cream slowly and carefully over the back of a spoon into the glass, until it reaches the brim.

  3. Do not stir after the cream has been added. Sprinkle with the cocoa and serve immediately.
