Apple sauce

A traditional accompaniment to roast pork.

What you need

450 g cooking apples, peeled cored and sliced
6 tsp-45 ml water
25 g butter
2 tsp caster sugar, or to taste

Method

  1. Place apples in a pan with the water. Cook gently, uncovered, for about 10 min until soft.

  2. Using a potato masher, mash the apple to a pulp. Stir in the butter and sugar to taste.
