Sausagemeat pastry wheels

What you need

225 g ready-made puff pastry
225 g sausage meat
1/2 small onion, peeled and finely chopped
150 ml fresh parsley, finely chopped
seasoning
1 egg, beaten
3 tsp sesame seeds
3 tsp poppy seeds

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 220°C.

  2. Roll the pastry out on a lightly floured surface to a rectangle 30 cm x 12cm, approx 1cm thick.

  3. In a glass bowl, mix together the sausagemeat, onion, parsley and seasoning. Spread the filling over the pastry, leaving a 5mm gap around each edge.

  4. Carefully roll up the pastry and filling to form a roll. Using a sharp knife, carefully cut 10 equal slices. Place the wheels on a lightly greased baking tray, leaving enough room in between each to allow for spreading.

  5. Lightly brush each wheel with the beaten egg. Sprinkle the sesame and poppy seeds over them.

  6. Place in the oven 15-20 min until golden brown.

  7. Remove from oven and leave to cool slightly. Then move to rack to cool completely.
