Red cabbage and sauerkraut

Cabbage is braised in vinegar to give this dish a tasty flavour.

What you need

6 tsp oil
2 onions, peeled and sliced
450 g red cabbages, quartered, cored and shredded
60 ml water
50 ml vinegar
3 tsp mustard seeds
450 g sauerkraut, drained

Method

  1. Gently heat the oil in a frying pan. Fry the onions until softened. Add the cabbage, water and vinegar. Cover and cook for 12-15 min.

  2. Stir in the mustard seeds and sauerkraut. Cook for 5 min, tossing the mixture together gently until heated through.

  3. Pile into a serving dish.
