Red cabbage and sauerkraut
Cabbage is braised in vinegar to give this dish a tasty flavour.
What you need
- 6 tsp oil
- 2 onions, peeled and sliced
- 450 g red cabbages, quartered, cored and shredded
- 60 ml water
- 50 ml vinegar
- 3 tsp mustard seeds
- 450 g sauerkraut, drained
Method
Gently heat the oil in a frying pan. Fry the onions until softened. Add the cabbage, water and vinegar. Cover and cook for 12-15 min.
Stir in the mustard seeds and sauerkraut. Cook for 5 min, tossing the mixture together gently until heated through.
Pile into a serving dish.
Serving suggestion
Roast, grilled or fried pork or cold meats.
