Melba toast

Ideal to serve with a pate.

What you need

6 slices medium sliced white bread

Method

  1. Preheat the grill.

  2. Using a sharp knife, cut the crusts off the bread slices.

  3. Toast under the grill, on one side, for 1-2 min until crispy and lightly golden.

  4. Remove from grill. Place the uncooked side uppermost on a chopping board. Using a sharp knife, carefully scrape away any untoasted bread - to give you a very thin slice, only toasted on one side.

  5. Cut each slice in half your make 2 triangles. Return to the grill, uncooked side uppermost. Grill for 1-2 min until crisp and golden with curled up edges. Serve hot or cold.
